10 General Tools Leading To Healthy Lifestyles

Article by Greg Garner

Many people are aware of the words ‘healthy lifestyle’. However, many people actually only dream about a healthy lifestyle, and don’t really have one. Many do not understand the meaning of it at all, and very few strive for real meaning and adherence to that.

For some who take it as a challenge and decide to adopt it, strictly do so with the help of leading a disciplined lifestyle. In fact, healthy lifestyle is made up of three factors in general – eating, thinking and doing. Certain important points related to healthy lifestyles are as below.

• A healthy lifestyle is not about living a strict life. It is about living a disciplined life.

• Different persons with different living or eating patterns can lead healthy lifestyles. Check with your family physician for your own guidelines.

• What we eat directly impacts what we think which in turn directly impacts our deeds. The right kind of eating at the right time is very important. Eating is not the only thing that a body has to do. There are lots more activities that need to be done by the body besides eating. In short, don’t concentrate too much on eating, neither should you ignore it.

• Regular exercise is a major ingredient of healthy lifestyles. It need not be a very aggressive or a lengthy exercise program, even a light exercise routine that is able to get some sweat out of you is enough.

• A sufficient intake of water is very important as this takes part in many functions of body; i.e. most of the activities in the body are dependant on water.

• Sound sleep is an indication of good health and a healthy mind. Oversleeping is as bad as less sleeping. An optimum sleep of six or seven hours a day is enough to keep you intact. There are prescribed ways of sleeping which if focused on means you can have a sound sleep.

• Laughter is a good tool for leading to a healthy lifestyle.

• Healthy relations in life can lead to a healthy lifestyle.

• Take your work seriously. When it is work time, nothing is more important than work. This will give you a great level of satisfaction. And satisfaction is a superb booster for healthy lifestyles.

• Be Social. You should keep taking part in your local social activities happening around your area. And don’t overdo it, though.

Overall it all depends on what we eat, what we think and what we do that becomes a determinant of our lifestyle. It also becomes a decisive factor about whether we have a healthy lifestyle or is there any gap that needs to be filled. The Internet has played a major role in impacting our lifestyle. A balanced and constructive use of the internet has been helpful in building our knowledge base stronger.

Lots of healthcare related transactions also have started taking place on the internet. As such, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a regulatory body to guide about national level healthcare related transactions and a lot of other things. And Reptrax Credentialing is another initiative which is online software with a separate line of motives towards healthcare industries.

Developing A Healthy Lifestyle

Many people are striving to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. They know that living a healthy lifestyle can help them avoid disease and feel better in their everyday life.

There are many aspects of a healthy lifestyle including nutrition, physical fitness, stress relief and control, and sleep. Americans tend to eat a lot of junk food and things that are unhealthy for them even though there are so many nutritional and healthy foods available to them.

If you are striving to develop a healthier lifestyle you may want to start by purchasing whole foods. Whole foods are foods that are either unprocessed or as little processed as possible.

This does not mean you have to purchase only fresh foods to get a more unprocessed diet. There are canned, frozen, and fresh foods that are relatively unprocessed.

It is also probably a good idea to remove foods and drinks from your diet that contain corn syrup, are calorie dense, or are full of nutrition-lacking sweetener. Studies have indicated that real sugar is better for humans than the fake imitations of sugar.

It is also a good habit to begin dinner with a salad. This will help reduce your hunger so that you will probably eat less of the heavy calorie foods.

In addition, you will enjoy the benefits of the nutritional vitamins that you take in from eating the salad. Watching what you eat and how much is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.

There are also many things you can do to improve your physical fitness and wellbeing. It is a very good idea to do a squat every time you have to pick something up.

This will help make sure that you do not use your back as you lift the object. Much of the back pain experienced by humans is caused by incorrectly lifting heavy objects.

In addition to preventing back pain, squatting down to lift objects will help your legs gain strength and build muscles. Of course, it is also important to regularly exercise.

It is recommended that most people should get half an hour of exercise at least three times a week. Some people have special circumstances that will not allow them to safely exercise in certain ways or for certain time periods.

If you believe that you may have some kind of special circumstances, you should make sure that you talk to your doctor about it. Your doctor will know your condition and whether it is safe for you to exercise.

If you can exercise, it will go a long way to help you become physically fit and developing a healthy lifestyle. Make sure that you choose an activity that you enjoy.

Another element of life that often prevents a healthy lifestyle is stress. It is very important to learn how to properly control and monitor your stress levels.

There are many ways in which you can relieve your stress levels. Some studies have suggested that it may be a good idea to give an extra hug to your partner every day before work.

By doing this, you can remember the hug when things get stressful throughout the day. When you think of the hug, the things around you may suddenly become less stressful.

It has also been found that people who let themselves cry when they are stressed feel much better afterwards and much of their stress has left.

In addition, medical studies have found that crying can boost your immune system and help relieve some depression. It can also leave you with the ability to think more clearly than you were before.

A third practice that can help reduce stress levels is doing a breathing exercise. Breathing exercises can help tremendously if they are performed twice a day for three to five minutes.

These exercises can also help reduce stress in the moment if you take a minute to stop and do them. You can even do them when you are driving your children home from school.

A fourth aspect of developing a healthy lifestyle is improving your ability to get enough sleep. If you are struggling to fall asleep or stay asleep there are several things that you may want to try.

For example, you may want to sprinkle fresh sheets with lavender water and put them on your bed. Studies have found that the lavender scent can help stimulate relaxation.

If you are more relaxed and less stressed, you may be able to sleep better. In addition, the simple purchase of a new pillow may significantly help you to sleep better.

Studies have also found that a handful of walnuts before bed can help you rest better. This snack contains the amino acid tryptophan, which acts like turkey in the way that it can make your feel more tired and ready for bed.

Healthy Lifestyle: You Are What You Eat

Spring vs. Winter

What is it that makes us go out of our way each spring to slim down, tone up, and put on fresh coat of sunshine? We all want to feel good, and be more attractive, so that we look better in those revealing summer clothes. I originally wrote this article for a spring publication, but decided that this time of the year may be even more appropriate because let’s face it, this time of year is when nearly all of us put on the most weight. If we start now, during the cold months to slim down, tone up and get ready, we’ll be ready for the summer long before it arrives!

Make the Time

In today’s busy world, especially during the holidays, who has the time to put in a few hours of aerobics every day? Most of us don’t, or are not willing to take the time, even if it is available to us. But there are many things that we can do to help get a flatter tummy, lose some of those thunder thighs, help clear up skin problems, breathe better, have more energy, and get a little sunshine, safely, and in a small amount of time, if we can just get motivated and put aside the time to do it. Proper nutrition and exercise are extremely important. We are learning more and more about foods and combining them. Herbs, minerals and vitamins can be an excellent tool for weight loss, maintenance and revitalization of energy.

Love Thyself

Loving yourself is one of the most important parts of living life. Without self-love there is no way you can truly love another, right? And the body is your temple, a great place to start. Changing is just that. Losing weight and getting in shape have to come from making lifestyle changes that need to last throughout your life.

My Story

My personal diet and exercise regimen helped me to lose over one-hundred pounds through trial and error in 1999-2000. I was at my wits end. I had tried just about every diet product and exercise plan that was known to man. Nothing worked.

Just a little over 8 years ago by the grace of God, I found a popular set of herbal products, and I lost forty-five pounds in two mos. and kept all but ten of those forty-five pounds off for well over a year. I still had another twenty-five pounds to lose in order to reach my goal. I had plateaued. I became discouraged and gave up for awhile.

The end weight is the hardest to take off, but I knew that I would eventually do it. About 15 mos into my plan I got my mindset straight again and I began getting more into diet and exercise. With the help of herbal and nutritional supplements, I was able to take off the ten pounds that I had gained back, plus an additional fifteen pounds in ten weeks. In just five more weeks, I was back to my goal weight(where I was ten years earlier), and in better shape than I had ever been in my entire life. Over the years I have occasionally gained weight again, especially over the winter months but I was able to lose it again fairly quickly by using the same methods as in the past. I’ve kept most of it off for over 8 years!

These are excellent results that come from empowerment, discipline and a little hard work. Different people may achieve different results, but your own realistic goals are truly achievable, if you can simply commit yourself to attaining them. This may sound difficult, but it’s really not that hard. Empowering yourself to do what you need to do to maintain your health is the greatest gift you can give yourself, and those that love you.

Why We Gain Weight

Why do we gain weight, and why is our society fat in general? One of the main reasons is that the body is filling up with toxins that are not being properly eliminated. Poor nutrition, including excessive amounts of sugar and sodium from processed foods, lack of education, a fast lifestyle, cigarette smoking, drugs(including some prescription drugs) & alcohol, chemical compounds, and just plain laziness contribute to this problem, as well as the fact that our food itself is not what it once was. We fill our vegetables and fruits with pesticides, we combine foods improperly, and we eat “on the go”. Our meat is fed on the vegetables that are filled with these toxins and our air and water are polluted with all kinds of horrible substances. What do you think are the main causes of cancer, heart disease and stroke(the number one killers)? In a word… TOXINS.

When we gain weight, we become sluggish, slow, have skin problems, lose range of motion, lose energy, and breathe less freely. Giving the body less cleansing oxygen and water, we literally starve ourselves from the inside out.

What the Body Needs

The human body is made up of mostly water, so what do you think we need to cleanse the body? No, we don’t want to drink a lot of water, this will only bloat the system. Drink for thirst only. Water-rich foods are the best medicinefor cleansing the body.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to breathe more freely, move about more easily, and see incredible results in the mirror, without having to give up much of anything but a bunch of old fat, and poisons that you don’t want or need anyway?

The body needs water-rich foods, vitamins, minerals and oxygen to become, and remain healthy. Without these life-giving nutrients the body must store something else, so it stores the fat, starch(carbohydrates) which later turn into sugars, and salt which retains water instead of using it properly, that we provide it in our fast-food junky lifestyles. This process causes these unwanted wastes to be trapped within the body. Opposing that, if there are enough nutrients properly absorbed in the body, the body will instead eliminate most of the “garbage” and keep the “good stuff”. Remember the phrase, ” You ARE what you EAT?”

What Can We Do?

What can we do about it? Well, for one thing we can take a step back and look at what we are putting into our bodies and our world. Decreasing the amount of toxins that we put into our world and our bodies is the first step. Eat water rich foods, especially fruits which are great for energyand mental clarity. Get plenty of exercise, even a small amount if you are pressed for time is healthwise. Recyclethose cans and bottles. Stop smoking cigarettes. Lose the aerosol cans. Look for reasonable and safe ways to eliminate our waste. Empower ourselves to eliminate the garbage in our world and our bodies and decide on proper nutrition and exercise. Major manufacturers can look to exceed the EPA’s standard expectations for keeping pollution out of our world.

We MUST remember that we only receive from our bodies and our world that which we put into them. Let’s make a difference, one body, one person at a time.
