Some people who are held wise do not have a crown. Sad to say, they are poor. Being wise and poor present complications. And that, in itself, is a paradox. How can someone wise be poor? Can’t the wise use their wisdom to avoid poverty?
A crown is displayed for all to see. What do poor people show off but misery and unrepaired brokenness? It is foolish to remain poor. Poverty yields folly, and vice versa. It is wise to be free from poverty. Wealth, then, is a result of wisdom.
The problem with wise yet poor people is that their wisdom is not heeded. In the end, they are despised. When that happens, what would their difference be with the poor?
I think some wise people remain poor because of missed opportunities, or they had traditional and religious points of view that keep them from embracing prosperity. It’s like an unfounded belief that money is from the devil and its possessors are on their way to hell.
The truth is adherence to the Bible puts finances in proper perspective. Money is not the root of all evil, but the loveof it. How much moneydoes it take to bring the good newsto the poor? Financing the spreading of the Gospel is never an evil thing.
Let wealth continue to be what it is, a crown for the wise. There are some foolish people with crowns of wealth, but that doesn’t mean we stop being right – being wise with crowns.
In the end of all pursuits for wealth and wellness, the righteous will receive a crownof glory, placed by the King Himself. Some will just barely make it to heaven and be crownless.
Live a godly life on earth, all the way to heaven. Conduct a life worthy of a crown – be wise and increase in wealth, and know that the Father walks in streets of gold.
